The 1960s Scrapbook

This book was a nice source of inspiration for me the last couple of weeks.
I love many things about the 60's - the naivety and innocence, the happiness, the sense of freedom, a feeling that everything is possible, and of course the music. I also admire the design of that era which was so colorful and psychedelic at times.

The The 1960s Scrapbook was compiled by Robert Opie who collected examples of contemporary products such as advertising imagery, labels, signs, posters and brochures, food and cigarettes packs and many many more items, 1,400 of them found their way to the book and all of them are now housed in his museum of packaging in Gloucester, England.

Opie's Collection now contains over 500,000 items which together tell the story of Britain's consumer society, its lifestyle and culture and is one of the largest private collections of British advertising and packaging imagery.

It was fun to dig into the pictures to find products that still exist nowadays. Did you know for example that Vegemite is from the 60's? (or is it Mermite for the British?) Still fresh now as it was back then! :)

My life without an iPhone...

...Were really hard, almost unbearable, until my iPod Touch died and now it is just impossible!!

My iPod Touch was a birthday present from my father-in-law, one of the best presents I've ever got. I can still recall his face, amused as he didn't know how to react when he saw how ridiculously happy I was with his present. He probably thought I was so pathetic...
But that's the thing - before you hold one of these amazing devices, you don't know what you're missing.
My life is much easier thanks to my iPod, I'm telling you.
It's not only saves and presents all of the essential information I need such as my calendar, contacts, weather forecasts, maps and many many more but is also full of little treasures such as lots of my favorite books to read online or offline, some games (I'm not much of a games person, for these people, iPod Touch/iPhone is a real bliss!) and other little goodies I keep finding almost every week.

Anyway, back to my post title, the thing I miss the most about my iPod compared to an iPhone, is not the phone itself but the camera.
So many times I was walking/driving around while missing one time opportunities for great photos because I didn't had my camera with me.

I really try to have my camera in my bag at all times, but when doing my morning walks for example, it's not that easy to carry this weight with me.
With the iPhone camera you won't miss a chance for good shots.
I know some of you laugh when you read this but I truly believe great photos comes from great photographers, not from great cameras.
Still don't believe me?

Check out these beautiful pictures by my dear friend Yaron, all were taken with his iPhone using the CameraBag for iPhone app. I can't get enough of the dark urban flair of his photography.

Weekend in pictures

It was quiet here lately. Well, the heat wave (which is not completely over yet) just left me breathless and my brain functions were reduced to the very minimum.

The pictures were taken at the Adelaide Showground Farmer's Market which is one of my favorites around here.
It is the best place to find fresh, seasonal and regional food from the Adelaide metropolitan - fruits and vegetables stalls, dairy farmers, livestock producers, fishers, Wine and cheese makers, bakers and many other changing goodies are here every Sunday.

A special twilight Market is going to be held on December, Wednesday 23rd, for last minute shopping of Christmas food and presents. Don't miss it if you're around!

Oh, and good week everyone! Keep yourself cool!
